Here at Family Practice of the Kennebunks we have three Nurse Practitioners who can serve as Primary Care Providers. We’ve taken this step because the State of Maine recognizes there are fewer doctors coming up the ranks. We also think the state understands the full workload of most primary care doctors. We applaud the expansion of the Nurse Practitioner roles. Our three Nurse Practitioners are presently accepting new patients.

We have worked with adorned Nurse Practitioners for 40 years because Maine’s scope of practice allows:

  • Nurse Practitioners to be Primary Care Providers as long as they are supervised by a physician
  • Nurse Practitioners to write prescriptions
  • Nurse Practitioners to make referrals to specialists

Our Nurse Practitioners have extensive education and training. They’ve earned their undergraduate degree in nursing; they’ve passed the National Council Licensure Examination; they graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; they received national certification in their chosen specialization; and applied for APRN licensure through the Maine State Nursing Board.

You’ll find all three of Family Practice of the Kennebunks Nurse Practitioners to be well trained professionals. They are ready to be your primary care provider.
